Fitness Assessment

Initially a Physician, Physiotherapist, or Kinesiologist assesses and reports each client's musculoskeletal, neurological, and range of motion limitations. Clients' progress is documented by intern reports (if required) and a final assessment upon release.

Reports

All reports include personal information and medical history.

Subjective Report

Patient complaints of pain and/or discomfort during work or leisure activities.

Objective Report

  • Work Requirements – ROM of affected joint(s) – Non-organic Tests
  • Strength and Flexibility – Work related limitations

Conclusion

  • Perceived Limitations – Overview of Physical Testing
  • Program Outline – Short and Long term Goals

Program Plan

Following the initial assessment, an individualized program plan is developed. Each program is developed to consider both the nature of the injury and the occupational and leisure requirements of the individual. Each program will actively address balance, posture and stability limitations with educational, progressive exercise prescription that delivers the knowledge and techniques needed for the individual to reduce pain and restore standard of living to the best of their ability.

Exercise Prescription

  • Warm up & stretching – Cardiovascular training
  • Muscular endurance training – Muscular strength training
  • Muscular imbalance correction – Job simulation
  • Cool down

Client Discharge

During exercise therapy sessions, clients will be taught to perform their program's exercises independently of the Exercise Therapist. The number of sessions required to develop this independence will depend on the severity of injury. At discharge, the client is provided with exercises that address their posture, range of motion and strength requirements, furthering progress toward normal daily living.
